Fixed Allowance Policies
Fixed allowance policies grant a set amount of leave per period (typically annual). Best for salaried or consistent-schedule staff.
When to use
Section titled “When to use”- Full-time teams with standard weeks.
- Part-time with predictable patterns.
- Enhanced allowances for specific groups (e.g., HQ staff).
How to configure
Section titled “How to configure”- Name it clearly (e.g., “Standard 28 Days”, “Standard 224 Hours”).
- Type: Fixed allowance.
- Amount + Unit: Set the total in days or hours.
- Save and assign to employees (new starters or via contract amendment).
Examples
Section titled “Examples”Standard 224 Hours (≈30 days)
- Unit: Hours, Amount: 224
- For a 37.5-hour week: 224 ÷ 7.5h = ~30 days
Standard 28 Days (UK statutory)
- Unit: Days, Amount: 28
- For a 7.5-hour day: 28 × 7.5h = 210 hours
Head Office 33 Days (enhanced)
- Unit: Days, Amount: 33
- Often statutory + 5 discretionary days
Hours vs. days
Section titled “Hours vs. days”- Use hours when daily hours vary; more precise for part-time/variable patterns.
- Use days for standard working days; easier to communicate.
