Accrual Policies
Accrual policies grant leave as hours are worked, keeping entitlements fair for variable-hour staff.
When to use
Section titled “When to use”- Zero-hours or casual contracts.
- Part-time staff with variable shifts.
- Seasonal or shift-based teams where hours change week to week.
How to configure
Section titled “How to configure”- Name it clearly (e.g., “Zero Hours Accrual”).
- Type: Accrual based on hours worked.
- Accrual rate: Set hours earned per 100 hours worked (e.g., 12.09% → 12.09 hours per 100 hours).
- Unit: Hours.
- Save and assign to applicable employees.
Example: Zero Hours policy
Section titled “Example: Zero Hours policy”- Accrual rate: 12.09 hours per 100 hours worked (12.09%).
- If an employee works 20 hours: 20 × 12.09% = 2.418 hours earned.
- Balances grow as timesheets are approved.
- Keep the rate aligned to local regulations for holiday accrual.
- Pair with accurate timesheets; approved hours drive the accrual.
